In 1971, Hyderabad parliamentary constituency had total 491227 electors. Total number of valid vote was 235624. Telangana Praja Samithi candidate G S Melkote won and became MP from this seat. He secured total 134941 votes. Independents candidate Badr-ud-dintyabji stood second with total 85529 votes. He lost by 49412 votes.
