  • In 1972, Gaya legislative assembly constituency had total 98618 electors. Total number of valid vote was 48008. Indian National Congress candidate Yugal Kishore Prasad won and became MLA from this seat. He secured total 25842 votes. Bharatiya Jana Sangh candidate Gopal Mishra stood second with total 13788 votes. He lost by 12054 votes.
